Petition updateCreate a low-traffic neighbourhood in Headstone South, HarrowWest Harrow (Vaughan Road) Low Traffic Neighbourhood - check before you drive

Hi All,

According to the traffic order on the Council Website, the West Harrow (Vaughan Road) Low Traffic Neighbourhood will be operational from tomorrow (in theory, no idea if this is actually the case).

I've included a link to the map which shows where the filters are so you can check before you drive and make sure you don't get caught out.

It is likely that there may be some degree of traffic mess as a result in the next couple of weeks. This is completely expected and happens any time a road layout is changed anywhere, not just with Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. In this case residents know where the filters are so they can avoid them - the most likely problem is going to be people who are not local coming from a distance, or using a sat nav that hasn't been updated yet. They will drive into the area expecting to be able to cut through, encounter the filters, and have to drive straight out again. The good news is they are unlikely to do this more than once!

I'd urge you to reserve judgement on the West Harrow scheme for a few weeks until things settle down - this is one of the reasons that the trials are for six months, because it is known that short term disruption is very likely. Hopefully it will be great for Vaughan School students and West Harrow residents in the long run.
