Petition for Dialogue and the Future of Jambana
Let Our Voices Be Heard 

We, the undersigned members, supporters, and friends of the Afro-Caribbean Canadian community, are calling for a meeting with the Mayor, City officials, and the Jambana planning/event team to engage in a constructive dialogue regarding the recent circumstances surrounding the planning, uncertainty, and reported cancellation and/or non-cancellation of the Jambana One World Festival. 

Jambana is more than

an annual celebration. It is an important cultural event that celebrates the heritage, contributions, achievements, and diversity of the Afro-Caribbean Canadian community. For many years, it has provided an opportunity for families, youth, community leaders, businesses, artists, and residents from across the community to come together in celebration. 

Recent developments surrounding the planning and status of the event have raised questions and concerns within the community. Rather than allowing uncertainty or division to continue, we believe this is an opportunity to come together, listen to one another, and establish a clear path forward. 

We are calling for:
A meeting with the Mayor and appropriate City officials to discuss the circumstances surrounding the recent Jambana planning process. 

A meeting with the Jambana planning/event team to better understand the challenges, concerns, and decisions affecting the event.
Open and respectful dialogue among community representatives, City officials, and event organizers. 

A clear and collaborative planning process that addresses safety, logistics, communication, accountability, and the successful delivery of future Jambana events. 

A commitment to ensuring that Jambana can continue as a safe, inclusive, and successful celebration of Afro-Caribbean Canadian culture for current and future generations.
Our Goal: 1,000 Signatures 

We are asking members of the community and supporters of Jambana to stand together by adding their names to this petition. 

Our goal is to collect at least 1,000 signatures before August 30 and present them to the Mayor, City officials, and the Jambana planning team as a demonstration of the community's desire for meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and a sustainable future for this important cultural celebration. 

This petition is not about division or blame. It is about bringing people together, creating understanding, addressing concerns, and ensuring that the voices of the community are heard. 

Together, we can create a stronger partnership between the community, City officials, and event organizers.
Together, we can help ensure that Jambana continues to celebrate our culture, our contributions, and our shared heritage for generations to come.
