Have you or someone you know  been failed by a landlord or housing association??

We have  been failed and still are being failed. So I have started this petition to hopefully make a change, so others don't have to go through what we are going through now. 

. After moving in to a property owned by Sanctuary Housing in September 2019 after relocating from London 100miles from everything we new and loved, this was not a swap it was an empty house advertised on the internet. It seemed perfect for us and our daughter. Once moving in  problems all started happening and we put in a first complaint in November 2019 due to leaking roof and damp and mould throughout the property. The property was empty for a few months after the last tenant gave it up due to the same problems we were faced with. None of this was disclosed to us. We couldn't use half the property and everyday was a struggle for us. And the lack of heating within the property and trying to cope with the cold air that was constantly be blown in the property from out side by a dry master installed to treat the problems.

Ourselves  have been made ill because of these problems and our daughter who is 6 now has asthma due to them neglecting us and the property.

I started this petition because of the I'll health our daughter has been put through. And because how this is happing all over the UK and nothing has been done by the government to help the people it should protect. We all deserve better .

We lost everything we had due to them not trying to fix it in a timely manner and the surveyors and workers attending saying it is us causing the problems. Many sanctuary tenants and private rented tenants go through what we have gone through. 

We all need to stand together and make a difference. We had to get a solicitor involved and the claim was settled on the basis of 2-3 weeks work. Fast forward 4 years after 100s of calls and complaints. We have now been decanted from the property for nearly 4 months To date  and the state of the work is terrible which has been passed of by there surveyors. 

Our local council are now involved as they have breached and not put in applications for works and because the sheer lack of care/knowledge  in the works undertaken. 

 We have recently had phone calls saying we are taking the p##s and telling us to give up the property and stop moaning and that the local council are just trying to get money out of them .

This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and as tenants we should not be allowed to feel intimidated and threatened  by them . We must all stand together to get something done about how housing association and others landlords are operating. And how they are destroying people's lives and causing physical and mental health problems .It was lucky for my family that I had building knowledge and knew what to lookout for .

What would like to change by doing this petition is as follows.

• shorter wait times on dealing with repairs
• An outside body to check works/repairs are completed in a timely manner. And to an acceptable standard.
• To make sure building regulations and compliance is followed.
• To disclosed previous problems to tenants before signing tenancy.
• For the government to issue penalties if the duty of care is breached. 
• Workers to be trained for the positions they hold.
• Reduce rent until works are completed. And this to be agreed with the tenant.
• And for full rent to be reimbursed to the tenant if longer than agreed time to fix/repair.

Please sign this petition and make a difference. And share this link on you what ever platforms you have. I stress that this is not about us this is about many people within the UK. And is a BIG BIG problem. Where many people are forced to live in bad conditions.

 As many housing associations and private landlords  do this to so many of there tenants across the UK.Do not them beat you down and accept what they say.  They all have protocols to follow but they don't they seem to think the rules and regulations set out by the government don't apply to them we must stand together and make a change. And make them be accountable for there actions

This is happening with many housing association and private landlords failing there duty of care to there tenants we need the government to take this more seriously within the whole of the housing sector not just sanctuary housing. Any person or organisation that rent property's out. 

There needs to be new rules and regulations put in place and strict penalty in place for those that do not follow them. 

We hope by having many people sign this petition the government will take control and be forced to take actions against them and change rules so that they can against housing associations and private landlords.

sanctuary housing use the loop hole of being a charity to make them untouchable. The government needs to take control, as we are the people and our rights as tenants are being breached. As long as they can operate in this way, it's us the people, that are forced to live in these conditions, whilst paying there wages and their mortgages, this is completely unacceptable and they should not profit from are losses. 

 Tenants of Sanctuary Housing and other housing association and private rented tenants  across the UK are experiencing subpar living conditions. Many have reported being ignored, blamed for issues that are not their fault, and left with unresolved problems for more than 28 days. This is unacceptable in a society where every individual has the right to safe and comfortable housing. We need to stand together as tenants and make our voices heard. We urge Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to address these concerns promptly. WE NEED AS MANY SIGNATURES AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE THE GOVERNMENT TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. THIS EFFECTS PEOPLES HEALTH AND THERE FINANCIAL STATUS. 

IT EFFECTS THERE FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS.

WE SHOULD ALL LIVE IN HOMES WE ARE PROUD OF AND THAT ARE SAFE FROM HAZARDS SUCH AS DAMP AND MOLD. BROKEN FITTINGS NO HOT WATER AND HEATING.

NOT EVEN ANIMALS SHOULD LIVE IN THESE CONDITIONS.

AND WHILST THIS GOES ON  ORGANISATION ARE PROFITING FROM ARE LOSSES AND LEAVING US TO FIGHT AGAINST THEM. 

WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FIGHT THIS IT SHOULD ALL BE UPHELD IN THERE DUTY OF CARE WHEN GIVING US A PROPERTY BUT IT IS NOT WE ARE JUST IGNORED.
