Hello all,
It is with extreme gratitude and peace that I send this message.
In a stunning turn of events, my mother's murderer was recently charged and sentenced for the attempted murder of a correctional officer. Within a week of his hearing and a month of Jesse's sentencing, I was in contact with the District Attorney on the case. The D.A.'s efforts and aide not only extended Jesse's prison sentence for his new crimes, but it also allowed increased, retroactive justice for Mom's murder, as well as justice for his death threats against me. To hear a detailed account of the April 17th sentencing and the weeks leading up to it, please listen to my podcast episode The Darkest Times Are All Behind Me. In it, I thoroughly explain the new charges, his new sentence, the micro-traumas that still managed to occur that day, and what all this progress means for my family's future.
Whether you listen or not, please understand how deeply I appreciate you. As I share in the episode, the support I received within this petition has buoyed me through some of my darkest times, and allowed me a hope the system rarely offers. Reading your names mattered so much to me. THANK YOU for your efforts and support. Mom and I will both be grateful forever.
Much love and hope,
Amy
