I'm exhausted. It's a good evening, but my heart's heavy, and my eyes are sore from crying. Let me share my story. My son Joseph, who lives with autism and schizophrenia, went into crisis this evening. He told me he felt tense, like pressure was building in his head. His body reacted; his head shook violently. Navigating this without immediate, accessible help is incredibly taxing on both him and me.

When Joseph reaches a breaking point, he tells me he needs help. But the sad truth is, I'm often stuck. Visibility is poor at night, and I can't drive. I need crisis services that are more accessible—services that understand families like mine can't wait. Tonight, as I watched Joseph struggle, I was forced to call a suicide hotline. It took time to get an officer and ambulance out here to help him.

It's heartbreaking. Joseph’s episodes are frequent. The cycle of back and forth between crisis and temporary calm doesn't solve the problem. We spend nights praying, hoping he finds peace, but real, accessible, and immediate mental health support feels elusive. The existing services are not enough. We need comprehensive, proactive solutions.

We must address this now. Families require 24/7 mental health support, tailored and responsive to individual needs, especially during nighttime crises when it's harder to access help. This support needs to be immediate, continuous, and adaptable to each family’s unique reality.
