Petition updateKeep Australia safe from gun violenceSpecial report exposes gun city
Alannah & Madeline Foundation
11 Sept 2016
The Age newspaper in Melbourne has exposed the emergence of a deeply concerning gun culture. Read Part 1 of the interactive story on The Age website here: http://www.theage.com.au/interactive/2016/gun-city/day1.html It reveals that the number of people that committed a gun crime, aged between 20 and 34, has more than doubled in the last 5 years. Since John Howard delivered the National Firearms Agreement in 1996, changes in gun technology and incremental changes made by various State governments in response to a powerful gun lobby have undermined our strong laws. It has been 20 years since the massacre of 35 people at Port Arthur in Tasmania but we should not be complacent about the danger of guns in our community. The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is pressing for Australian governments to keep our gun laws strong. Please share the petition today and we will make sure your voice is heard.
