SIGN THE PETITION AGAINST AN ANC-DA COALITION
The Issue
SIGNATURES FOR SUBMISSION TO ANC NEC BY ANC MEMBERS, SUPPORTERS AND ALL THOSE AGAINST THE DA
In recent days, there has been a surge of news articles advocating for a coalition between the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) at the national level. This potential alliance raises serious concerns, as highlighted by Nelson Mandela in 1997:
"Further, even a cursory study of the positions adopted by the mainly white parties in the national legislature during the last three years, the National Party, the Democratic Alliance, and the Freedom Front, will show that they and the media which represents the same social base, have been most vigorous in their opposition, whenever legislative and executive measures have been introduced, seeking the end of the racial disparities which continue to characterize our society."
Today, the DA continues to resist transformation over the last decade, voting against key legislation and measures aimed at meaningful change with a 82% opposition record to polices brought to the house by ANC, such as:
BELA Bill: The Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Bill aims to improve the quality of education by addressing issues such as school governance, admissions policies, and the provision of safe and adequate school infrastructure.
Hate Crimes Bill: This bill seeks to address and reduce hate crimes and hate speech related to racism, sexism, homophobia and other violent speech in South Africa by providing clear definitions and penalties, thereby promoting social cohesion and protecting vulnerable communities.
Employment Equity Bill: This legislation aims to promote equal opportunity and fair treatment in employment through the elimination of unfair discrimination and the implementation of affirmative action measures to redress historical imbalances.
Expropriation Bill: The Expropriation Bill provides a framework for the expropriation of property for public purposes or in the public interest, with an emphasis on land reform and addressing historical injustices related to land ownership.
Minimum Wage: This law sets a national minimum wage to ensure that workers receive fair compensation, thereby reducing poverty and inequality and promoting economic justice.
National Health Insurance Bill: This bill aims to establish a comprehensive health insurance system that provides equitable access to quality health services for all South Africans, regardless of their socio-economic status.
The DA's stance starkly contrasts with the values and objectives of the ANC. They oppose progressive labor laws and measures designed to redress historical injustices and promote transformation.
If given the chance, the DA will not only work to dismantle these laws but will also obstruct any meaningful progress on them
We cannot afford to let this happen.
SIGN THE PETITION AGAINST AN ANC-DA COALITION FOR SUBMISSION TO ANC NEC
Let's deliver a strong message to the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) and ensure that the principles of transformation and equality are upheld.
Together, we can make a difference.
RUN DA RUN !!
