ABC Radio Host Smears Petitioners, Ignores Complaints

On 8 September, I lodged a formal complaint after ABC host Raf Epstein dismissed a lawful petition to cancel the Daniel Andrews statue, signed by thousands of Victorians, as “conspiracy theorist rhetoric.”

Epstein made the comment on 3rd September during his taxpayer-funded ABC radio program. This was no fringe stunt. It was proper Parliamentary procedure: verified, tabled, and debated in Victoria’s Legislative Council. Epstein peddles misinformation as fact. 

Epstein owes petitioners an on-air apology. Until he does, his comments remain a smear against thousands of Victorians, the Parliament, the democratic process, and the right to petition government.

The only fair outcome is for Mr Epstein to step aside until this matter is resolved, with an unreserved on-air apology to every Victorian who exercised their democratic right to sign the petition.
