Street Lights for ALL of Villages of Winding Creek

The Issue

The Villages of Winding Creek has a problem...through penny pinching by the developer, and inaction by the HOA board, parts of the neighborhood have never had street lights installed. But street lights ARE still an option! Street lights are needed for safety and continuity!

With the rash of recent break-ins to cars, garages and even homes, this further highlights the need for safety lighting throughout the community.

Let the so-called leadership of the community know how important this is, by signing this petition.

I would absolutely love for there to be street lights in all parts of the neighborhood. The fact of the matter is that the developer pulled out on his original plans of installing them throughout the entire neighborhood because of cost. I resent the original petitioners statements that it is "lack of action by the board", and the neighborhoods "so called leadership". Just because you do not know about the interworkings or discussion of the board doesn't mean that we are inactive. First off, this community is still ran by the developer, he still holds all the cards. Secondly, the board has talked about installing this in the future, but these actions must be done prudently. As they say "money does'nt grow on trees". and anyone who has looked at our budget would know that we simply don't have the reserves as an HOA to complete such a project. We have looked into it, and each light pole, will be roughly $7500(2021 prices). We probably need about 50 more to complete the neighborhood. That is roughly give or take $375000, that we do not have at the moment. So are options are to move forward with completion of this, and assess the residents in the community over a few years. At this point, this is what you would be signing up for, unfortunately. The board, doesn't feel that at this point it would be in the best interest of the community to do this. Simple math tells me that this assessment would cost the homeowners almost 300/year additional for at least two years. Who wants that???? The responsible thing to would be to phase them in, do a little bit at a time, as to not have to burden the residents for something that the developer pulled out on. Make no mistake, blaming the board for something that the developer did is counter productive. We live here too, the 5 five of us want the best possible things for this hood too. However, as an association we must be responsible, and think about the entire community. I am all for street lights, everywhere, this is why I signed the petition, but it is not as simple as just putting them in, as it seems on the surface there are many layers of this onion, that need peeled back. I sincerely hope that we get a lot of signatures, and a lot of interest. But the board has already discussed this, is having ongoing discussions, and it is one of our priorities. So please understand this.
