Sign and stand with Virtue Bar and Lounge to keep Clifton Heights a wet precinct
The Issue
Virtue Bar and Lounge needs your signature in keeping our neighborhood precinct a wet district. As a minority business, we have encountered many obstacles in both our old and new location in Louisville, KY.
Virtue Bar and Lounge offers excellent food menu, quality drinks and a wide variety of entertainment. We have game and trivia nights, offer competitive hours for everyone of the family to enjoy. As the owner, I can say myself and staff are family oriented and encourage our customers to have fun but to always be safe.
Our surrounding neighbors in both locations we have housed, have discriminated against us as a people and business. Frequent visits from local police and alcohol beverage control because of events that have occurred outside of the establishment. Virtue has remained steady and saw an increase in business. We were blessed to find a location more commercial but problems of society affect every corner around the world.
Clifton Heights Community Council has decided to go beyond calling authorities. They have cited our customers has "uncontrolled and violent". The President of the council stating "That kind of establishment with that kind of clientele really doesn't fit in our neighborhood."
They have decided to vote to attempt in making the entire precinct dry. 40% of Virtue Bar and Lounge business is alcohol sales. Not only would it greatly affect us financially but other businesses in the immediate area. We have roughly 30 people on our staff, their livelihood would impacted.
As owner , I have done my due diligence in securing the safety of my staff and our customers. We have installed LMPD cameras and invite local police to help ensure safe, swift exiting at the closing of the bar.
We strongly feel this is racially motivated and seek the support of our city, surrounding areas and anyone who disagrees with this type of treatment. Virtue Bar and Lounge will be at stake as a whole if Clifton Heights votes to make our precinct dry. Our staffs jobs and livelihood will be at stake, the children they care for will have to readjust. We have made many sacrifices to be in our current space and will not back down from this injustice.
We are taking immediate action to attempt getting this vote off the table. We need your immediate support. Please sign and share and stand with your favorite neighborhood bar, Virtue Bar and Lounge.
