Petition updateSign AB 2125: Healthy Nail Salon BillAction Alert: AB 1575 headed to CA Senate EQ Committee

Michael LokOakland, CA, United States

Jul 3, 2017
AB 1575 (Kalra), which will require ingredient labeling for salon products, is getting closer to becoming law. Last month the bill passed the Assembly, and on Wednesday, July 5 it will be heard in the Senate Environmental Quality (EQ) Committee.
Ingredient listings on labels are not required for salon products, and as a result workers (and their clients) may unknowingly be exposed to dangerous chemicals that are linked to breathing difficulties, higher rates of miscarriages, birth defects, and even cancer.
Salon workers have a right to know this information.
That’s why the California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative (@CA_HNSC), Black Women for Wellness (@BW4WLA), Women’s Voices for the Earth (@women4earth) and the CHANGE (Californians for a Healthy and Green Economy: @changeca) Coalition have partnered to make right-to-know a reality for nail and hair salon professionals by cosponsoring AB 1575.
Here’s how you can help AB 1575 pass the Senate EQ committee:
Today, July 3, call 1 or 2 state Senators from the following list. Ask her/him to vote “yes” for AB 1575. If you live in any of the districts noted below, please be sure to call that office!
Calling only takes a minute. Feel free to speak from the heart, or use the script provided here:
Phone Script “Hello, My name is_______ and I’m calling from [city], California to urge the Senator to help protect salon workers by voting yes on AB 1575- Disclosure of Ingredients in Professional Cosmetic Products. Salon professionals deserve to know what they are being exposed to in the products they use at work so they can decide how to protect their and their customers’ health. Thank you for your support.”
