Shutter NJ Transit's Jersey Avenue Train Station for Improved Accessibility

The Issue

As someone who has closely observed the operations of NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor Line, I've come across a repeating problem that creates unnecessary confusion for its daily users. Several of the line's trains terminate at Jersey Avenue rather than at the Trenton Transit Center, as logically expected. This has been a source of frustration for many, particularly because Jersey Avenue Station does not even offer full wheelchair accessibility.

In order to improve the service and provide a more effective and user-friendly transit system for all, I propose that the Jersey Avenue Station be closed to passengers. This would streamline the service, facilitating a direct route from New York Penn Station to the Trenton Transit Center, without causing the confusion of an unpredictable terminus.

Furthermore, instead of allowing the Jersey Avenue Station to fall into disuse, it could be repurposed as a tourist attraction for railfans. A park could be built next to the tracks with a fountain, flower garden, and picnic area along with a replica of an old fashioned train depot that houses a small museum. This not only adds a unique point of interest for New Brunswick, NJ but can also generate revenue that can be reinvested into enhancing the mass transit system.

However, for this proposal to come into fruition, we need your support. The voices of the people using the NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor Line daily can make a difference, and by signing this petition, you can contribute to transforming the state of public transportation in New Jersey. Join hands in our endeavor to make public transportation more accessible and less confusing for everyone. Please, support our cause, sign our petition.
