The Issue

The proposed construction of an AI data centre in Crossfield has raised significant concerns regarding a potentially detrimental impact on the local community and environment. This large-scale project is not in the best interest of Crossfield residents nor the environment.

There has been a lack of transparency and community involvement in the decision-making process surrounding this proposal. It is concerning that local residents' voices have largely been unheard in a project that stands to reshape the community significantly.

Many sources warn of the environmental implications of constructing a large scale data  centre. AI data centres use substantial amounts of energy to operate, typically sourced from non-renewable resources. Adding an ai data facility in Crossfield would contribute significantly to rising emissions, sound pollution and water pollution within the area.

The proposed plans will likely severely impact local infrastructure and resources. Data centres require a massive amount of fresh water for cooling purposes. As well as lead to increased traffic, noise, and overall disruption, affecting the quality of life for Crossfield’s residents.

Community well-being needs to be prioritized over corporate interests. The potential benefits of this data centre do not weigh up against the negative impacts. We urge the local government and planning authorities to ban this proposal or  pivot towards more sustainable solutions that align with the community’s interests and environmental goals.
