The Issue

Cats dream and have nightmares just like you and me. Establishing an animal sanctuary in Los Angeles or the Downey area (ideally locations are needed in both areas) would not only provide a safe haven for these innocent creatures but also create a community space for individuals seeking connection. These sanctuaries would be dual purpose of homing cats that would never be adopted and rehabilitation. The current practices of euthanizing cats, as the state of California and shelters like SEAACA are doing, are heartless and barbaric. Just this week, SEAACA was at 37% capacity and still euthanized a young cat needing fluids.

The epidemic of feral cats in California is a direct result of human negligence and responsibility. Instead of providing a nurturing and secure environment, shelters like SEAACA choose to euthanize cats, including defenseless kittens who are taken from their mothers at merely weeks old. This is a grave injustice and a failure to recognize the value and potential of each life.

Rather than continuing this cycle of cruelty, I propose a shift to a proactive and humane approach. Let's push for the closure of SEAACA or at the very least, the implementation of a no-kill policy. By redirecting state funds, we can create an expansive and sustainable animal sanctuary, focusing on providing care and rehabilitation for homeless cats. This sanctuary would not only cater to the needs of these vulnerable animals but also act as a hub for community engagement and education on responsible pet ownership.

The ultimate goal would also to have a federally sponsored cat sanctuary in every major city in the USA. Please tag President Trump.

We have the opportunity to redefine how we treat our fellow living beings and rectify the mistakes of the past. By signing this petition, you take a stand for life, compassion, and the better treatment of animals in California. Let us work together to create a future where every feline has the chance to live, dream, and find a place they can call home. Sign now to transform our community and make a tangible difference in the lives of countless cats.
