Shut Down Miami Seaquarium and Release Romeo the Manatee

The Issue

For 67 years, Romeo the Manatee has been confined within the walls of Miami Seaquarium, swimming in circles. This is a personal plea from someone who believes that all marine life should live freely in their natural habitats and not be used for entertainment purposes. The aquarium's parking lot is larger than any pool at the park, highlighting the stark contrast between human convenience and animal welfare.

Romeo is aging and his health deteriorating. If we do nothing, he will die a slow and lonely death within these confines. It's time to give him one last chance at freedom.

Manatees are gentle creatures known as "sea cows" due to their slow pace and peaceful nature (National Geographic). They are protected under U.S federal law by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, yet Romeo remains captive.

We urge Miami Seaquarium to reconsider its stance on keeping marine animals like Romeo for entertainment purposes. We call upon Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission to enforce stricter regulations on marine parks' treatment of animals.

Let us stand together against this injustice towards our sea life. Sign this petition today to help free Romeo and close down Miami Seaquarium!
