The Issue

Believe what your eyes are seeing and the gut reaction that you have --- that it is wrong. Do not allow government actors to normalize this cruelty to human beings.

*Note: Updated news articles below petition.

The CECOT* super max mega prison in El Salvador is perpetuating dehumanizing conditions and violating fundamental human rights. Prisoners are subjected to overcrowded spaces and various forms of inhumane treatment (24/7 lights on, same meal every day, pit toilets). These dehumanizing conditions rise to the level of offenses under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948). This critical situation calls for immediate, comprehensive intervention by the international community as a whole.

We must condemn this dehumanization. We must uphold the intrinsic dignity of all individuals. Many of the people detained have never been convicted of any crime!

Please sign this petition to demand the shutdown of CECOT prison in El Salvador.

The recent (March 16 2025)  illegal and unconstitutional deportation of over 230 Venezuelan people, some of whom are not convicted of any crime --- by the United States has brought the plight of all people being detained in the CECOT prison to light. Be a voice for humanity and oppose this prison.
