Dear all,
The public consultation about the baby graves ended on 10/08/2015. Since then the bereavement officer has been putting together a report and finalising a new policy. We have no idea why this is taking so long - the whole process has been dealt with in an utterly abysmal manner. It's now over 14 months since the tributes were removed and 11 months since the Council stated that the situation would be resolved on BBC Breakfast.
The bereavement officer has stated to us that the decision following the public consultation is as follows:
One tribute is to be allowed per baby per family
A dedicated memorial area will also be created for further tributes
So, fantastic news! But the new policy has not yet signed off by the portfolio holder. If any of you has a spare moment, perhaps you can contact the portfolio holder (the Conservative Deputy Leader - contact details are available on the Shropshire.gov.uk website) appealing to him to sign this off before Christmas.
I will update again when I have final confirmation that the new policy is in place.
Love Clare
