Dragon Buffet Statement
We would like to thank our friends, family, and loyal customers for all the support you've given us this week. Unfortunately, we're already feeling the effects of the recent article.
Our suppliers are now requesting that all balances be paid in full and have changed our commercial credit terms to COD. The companies we rent and lease equipment from are questioning whether to recall their items. Our employees are distressed about their future employment, and walkouts are becoming imminent.
Many customers have also reached out about gift certificates — please rest assured that we will honor and reimburse them at any time.
The only reason we've been able to continue operating this week is thanks to the incredible support from Asian Grille, Tokyo Hibachi, and Hop Hing, who generously lent us supplies and helped replenish our stock. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and solidarity.
Here's the reality of the situation:
We still have active 3-year and 5-year lease options in place. We have not received any earnest money or signed any lease termination agreement. Despite that, news has spread that our building will be demolished — something we learned about through the media, not from the city.
To hear that our business might be torn down while we're still operating is not just traumatic, it's catastrophic — for us, our employees, and our vendors.
Most people on this page may not own a business, but imagine learning from the news that your job is gone because your workplace is being demolished. That's exactly what our team is facing right now.
If our suppliers and partners lose confidence and pull out, there will be no business left to even discuss a lease buyout.
I have spoken directly with Sarah Crawford from the Gazette, who confirmed that Dragon Buffet was never mentioned in the city's planning or approval discussions.
It's deeply concerning that the City Council appears to have assumed or prejudged that Dragon Buffet was "bought out" without ever speaking to us.
We apologize to the page administrators and community if we've seemed tense — we're doing our best to stay professional under extremely difficult circumstances.
Thank you again to everyone standing with us.
Your support means everything right now.
