Show your opposition to Trump's climate change-related plans

The Issue

Throughout his campaign and since the November 8 election, President-elect Trump has indicated his intent to take several steps that would be extremely detrimental to our environment and planet, including:

- Withdrawing from critical multi-nation UN programs, as described in his 100 day plan:  "cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America's water and environmental infrastructure".

- Proceeding with fossil fuel-oriented energy programs domestically that the current administration has worked to reduce, as described in his 100 day plan: "lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward".

- Selecting an individual who is a consummate climate change denier to head the EPA transition.

- Focusing entirely on coal, oil and gas, without any consideration of plans that are environmentally friendly, in his website (https://www.greatagain.gov/policy/energy-independence.html).

As we've seen with past climate-related issues, the world coming together in commitment of slowing change has been effective and beneficial. Climate change is not a hoax. Scientists who illustrate that it is happening are not frauds nor alarmists. We have a single planet, with finite resources, and the administration that will take effect in January 2017 is on a path to contribute to its premature destruction.

We have options when it comes to energy that can help us turn a corner in terms of our reliance on finite resources, in terms of competition with other countries, and in terms of reducing the burden and negative impact on our planet, and to re-establish America as leaders in innovation and technology.

Please sign this petition to request that the Trump-Pence administration reconsider withdrawing from UN programs that constitute global commitment to minimizing human impact on the environment, prioritizing protecting our country's natural resources, acknowledging the truth of climate change and putting effort and funding into solar and wind-based energy sources.
