The Issue
For more than 15 years, Doctor Who composer Murray Gold has shaped the emotional heart of the series with his unforgettable music. His iconic soundtracks have inspired, moved, and thrilled fans - becoming as loved as the stories themselves.
As lifelong fans of Doctor Who, we deeply value the role music plays in bringing each episode to life. Murray Gold’s work has become part of the soul of the show. From character themes to emotional climactic pieces, his music has connected us to the Whoniverse in profound ways.
Yet, several major soundtracks remain unavailable to the public. The long-awaited Series 10 soundtrack (2017), the 60th Anniversary Specials (2023), and the soundtracks for Season One (2024) and Season Two (2025) have not been released - nor has there been any announcement regarding future plans.
In recent years, unauthorised copies and recreations of Murray Gold’s music have appeared on streaming platforms - often without proper credit or rights. While this highlights the ongoing demand, we hope this petition sends a clear and respectful message: fans would rather support and celebrate Murray Gold’s official recordings.
We understand the complexities behind soundtrack releases, but there is a clear and growing demand from Whovians worldwide. Whether released physically, digitally, or via streaming, we believe these soundtracks would be warmly welcomed and widely supported.
We ask the BBC and Murray Gold to consider making these soundtracks available - not only to honour the incredible work and rights of ownership for this work, but to also celebrate the vibrant Whovian fanbase that continues to support it.
