In 2022, the beloved virtual pet mobile game Egg! The Game (originally created by Nix Hydra and their CEO(s) Lina Chen and Naomi Lazidinsky) was taken down from the App Store and Google Play. Since then, the company has been acquisited by Dorian Live, a company that dosen't focus on cute, cozy, pet games, and the master servers on Egg! and its sequel Egg Baby have gone completely dark, leaving a passionate community of fans with no official way to hatch, raise, and care for their eggs together or even join the online community, the Eggverse.

Egg! was not just a regular virtual pet game. The emotional heart of the entire experience was the unique connection players formed with their eggs and creatures. By sculpting their personalities—Cool, Cute, Pretty, Tough, Dark, and Nerdy—players watched their plain eggs transform into expressive, beautifully designed companions, collectively known as Creatures. The cooperative element allowed friends to hatch eggs together with friends, in which they hatch Shiny Creatures, creating real-world bonds over digital pets.

We are launching this petition to show established indie game studios (such as HyperBeard Games, UsTwo Games, or Studio Drydock) that the demand for this cozy, creature-centric experience is still alive. We want a studio to either negotiate an IP acquisition with Dorian to officially revive Egg!, or create a true spiritual successor that honors the personality-sculpting and creature designs we all miss.

Here's a history of Egg! for signers' understanding:

• Back in mid-2016, original developers Nix Hydra, founded by Lina Chen and Naomi Lazidinsky, created Egg! as a sequel to their 2013 game, Egg Baby, with the latter surpassing 15 million lifetime downloads globally.
• Since then, millions of players have joined the Eggverse, and even some popular YouTube celebrities like LDShadowLady and iHasCupquake has contributed in the game's golden age.
• However, later on in 2019-2021, Nix Hydra changed their focus on romantic visual novels, like The Arcana and FictIf, leading to their acquisition with Dorian Live, a company who specializes in games like The Arcana and FictIf, on  July 8th, 2022.
• As of today, we are now trying to transfer Egg!  and Egg Baby to another indie dev company before these two games completely fade away.

We do not blame Nix Hydra or Dorian for this, but damage they have done to such games like Egg Baby and Egg! since nearly a decade ago makes it unlikely for us to revive them. The only option with a potentially high chance is to contact an indie game developer to transfer the game, which is risky, because the intellectual property (or IP for short) is now currently owned by Dorian, meaning that doing so without purchasing the legal rights from Dorian would violate copyright law.
