Every morning, dozens of us rush through the school doors just seconds too late. 7:55 is the official cutoff time for arrive for students attending Washington Park High school - but how many of us have been marked tardy at 7:55, 7:56, 7:57, or 7:59? Sometimes this happens not because we are lazy or careless but because mornings can be unpredictable. Maybe the bus was running a tad bit behind. Maybe the line to get into the school was too long. Maybe your ride got caught at a red light, and suddenly despite all your efforts to be on time, you're marked late. Hi, my name is Jibola Omotoyinbo, a senior at WPHS and while I won't personally benefit from this change, I still believe that future and current students shouldn't have to deal with the same stress and unfair morning rush that I had to deal with all 4 years. I'm advocating to adjust the current arrival policy at WPHS to 8AM instead of 7:55 because an 8AM cutoff time would give us a reasonable breathing room and make mornings more fair.  If you're a current student at WPHS please sign this petition that way we can make mornings work for us, not against us.
