TDLR: Please sign this petition, then EMAIL Tinka Ellington at tinka.ellington@compass.com. She is chairperson of the Deerfield Beach Charter Review Committee for this project and she wants to hear from Deerfield Beach voters only.

Background:
The voter turnout on March 11 *DROPPED* 25% this year compared to four years ago. Voter turnout-out Tuesday March 11, 2025 was 9.7% (https://enr.electionsfl.org/BRO/3801/SummaryFour years ago in 2021, voter turnout was 12.97%.

Locally, National election turnouts are typically around 70%.

The city of Deerfield Beach has traditionally held its local elections in March, where the recorded turnout used to average only around 12% at peak. This does not reflect participation of our community in the democratic process.

The logic is simple. We’re already standing right there voting in November anyway, we just need to turn a couple pages. Having the elections and March is extremely cumbersome and expensive, and serves no clear purpose or benefit.

Goal:
By shifting the election date to November, we could significantly increase voter turnout , which was over 70% in Nov. 2024) by approximately 70%. This move would bolster civic engagement and give more residents the chance to contribute to local decision-making and prevent an appearance of voter suppression.

If you are a legal resident of Deerfield Beach, Florida, please sign this petition and email Tinka Ellington to support the shifting of Deerfield Beach local elections from March to November.
