Scotland's first female first minister, Nicola Sturgeon said during a radio interview that she speaks to her mum every day, helping her feel 'more secure and stable'. She stated: "At the end of the day if I've had a really bad day there's nothing like picking up the phone to my mum, and just hearing that there's nothing that would make her not be on my side."
The First Minister added: "My advice to anybody in politics or anywhere else, any young woman, is you've just got to find a way of being yourself, whatever that is, and not try to be something else, be yourself." She spoke about the support she gets from her parents, husband and sister throughout the interview, saying: "Particularly the line of work I am in, politics can be a bit cut-throat, it can be a bit stab-in-the-back sometimes, so you really need the people you know you can rely on, and I'm lucky to have some brilliant people."
Our message to the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon is that our sister had the support of our Mom and spoke to her everyday because it is just something that they did when DeeAnn first went to Europe. Their relationship was unique, special and everlasting. DeeAnn's Mom was her rock and support. DeeAnn idolized her Mom and worshipped the ground she walked on. Her 3 senior managers in Marine Scotland Compliance knew this and they took advantage of a very sensitive situation. One of the senior managers referred to DeeAnn as one of the strongest women he knew but yet tried to separate DeeAnn from her Mom. During the time DeeAnn had left with her Mom the 3 managers began their underhanded tactics to bring disciplinary charges against DeeAnn knowing that she would be at her most vulnerable state. A senior member of staff said that DeeAnn's line manger was the only boy that went to school with 2 hankies in each pocket but yet used him to carry out his malicious allegations against DeeAnn like a little handheld puppet.
Nicola Sturgeon not only in politics is a bit cut throat and a bit stab in the back. It appears that it exists in Marine Scotland Compliance. How senior members of staff cunningly manipulated a situation to their advantage is remarkable. Why were they allowed to do this? Bit by bit they kept chipping away at DeeAnn and the whole time taking advantage of her personal situation. A senior member of management went as far as to put an officer working in the office where DeeAnn works knowing that officer has a non harassment order brought against him by DeeAnn. The excuse used was that he was needed because there was a shortage of staff for cover. A situation that they made by keeping DeeAnn off her work. There are nearly 100 officers and yet they chose this particular man knowing that he is so evil and twisted that he would do something to DeeAnn given the chance and he did. He dangerously tailgated DeeAnn's vehicle to her home. This situation should never have happened and did occur because the senior member of staff at Marine Scotland Compliance instigated it.
A senior member of HR who carried out the investigation concerning allegations made by 2 female members of staff against the former first minister, Alex Salmond read the non harassment order granted by the Scottish courts against the man who harassed DeeAnn and left her in a state of fear. The same senior member of HR said that it does not say that the man could not work in the area where DeeAnn does live and advised that at times the same man with the non harassment order would be working in the area. We now fear for DeeAnn's safety because the fishery officer tailgated her vehicle while following her home. DeeAnn's work have created a dangerous situation because the Scottish courts would not issue a non harassment order against a man for no reason.
Nicola Sturgeon you have the support of your family. DeeAnn's family is in Canada. You have the means and ways to ensure her safety but yet you allow these men to carry out the actions that I have described. You are a woman in a powerful place who knows better than anyone how difficult it can be to stand you ground with men who are misogynist. When are you going to speak to DeeAnn and hear her story? Are you not asking questions yourself on how a group of men were allowed to be out of control to treat a woman the way they have?
