Ensure safety for motorists by lowering the speed limit on Hwy 259 North Broken Bow, Ok
The Issue
UPDATE: 8/02/20
Hi, ODOT!
It's your concerned Hochatowners and guests again. We just wanted to reach out to let you know we’ve just passed 3,300 signatures on our petition!
We are so grateful for your lowering of the speed limit, the wonderful turn lanes, and mostly, for listening to us when we need you. We need your support again. PLEASE, INSTALL "NO PASSING ON RIGHT" SIGNS throughout Broken Bow and in Hochatown. We can not stress enough of how important it is for you to help us remind our visitors that there is NO passing on the right. There is not enough room and it's ILLEGAL in the State of Oklahoma. Everything that you have helped us with has made a huge impact in implementing and maintaining a safer town and experience for all of us. We are very grateful. We do not believe that wanting these signs is asking too much. It's the law! It's very frustrating when people pass on the right...especially, because it is not posted. We ask that you do this in a timely manner. We will continue to do our part and we expect you to continue to do yours. Thank you so much for your support!
As a community, it is our responsibility as local citizens, officials, business owners, and whomever else this pertains to, to seek preventative measures ensuring the safety of ourselves, and our visitors in Hochatown, OK. In order to do so, we feel it necessary to decrease the speed limit to a more cautious and appropriate speed of at least 45 mph or lower, considering the volume of traffic flow during our busiest time of the year; In addition, considering the volume of maximum loads of the heavy freight/logging trucks that travel this route on US 259 Hochatown, North Broken Bow, Ok.
If this issue is ignored any longer, there will be more lives lost, and more unnecessary accidents. Lives that could very well be one of your family members or loved ones. If you encourage guests to vacation here, if you have family members that live here, if you work in our area, and especially if you live here...We kindly ask that you please sign this petition and help us save lives as part of our duty to ourselves and our guests. And please, please continue to use caution and discretion when traveling Hwy 259 N. Thank You.
