Hi everyone. Our petition total today was 8032 added together with paper signatures. These were officially handed over this afternoon to Sheffield City Council. As we have exceeded the 5000 signature mark – we have triggered a debate at Full Council next week, Wednesday 1st July at 1pm! This is great news and down to everyone’s hard work and sheer determination. Thankyou! We will present our petition and case for the retention of Sheffield’s trees to 84 Councillors at this meeting of Full Council next Wednesday. So we need ALL of you across Sheffield to get in touch with your councillors TODAY. Once again, find out who they are here: https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-council/roles-who/mps.html. Lobby them to push for a Scrutiny Board Review at the debate on 1st July. Amey is half way through the initial 5 year ‘blitz’ phase of it’s contract, and as elected officials, Councillors should already be pushing for a review of this contract anyway. Sheffield City Council can change it’s mind on what Amey is allowed to do – if there is enough pressure! SO LOBBY YOUR COUNCILLORS TODAY, IF YOU WANT A CHANCE TO KEEP WHAT’S LEFT OF SHEFFIELD’S URBAN FOREST!!
