Build cycle lanes on Ringinglow Road!!

The stretch between Bents Green and the Norfolk Arms on Ringinglow Road is heavily used both by vehicles and cyclists heading out to enjoy the Peak District, with more and more people taking up cycling since COVID-19.

The combination of a narrow road and high speed limit makes overtaking cyclists difficult and dangerous but waiting behind them frequently leads to large queues and puts pressure on cyclists, particularly the uphill leaving Sheffield.

There is bank on both sides of the road which could be turned into cycle lanes without narrowing the road. 

We petition Sheffield City Council to undertake an assessment of this prospect, which if built, would

- allow current cyclists to feel safer

- encourage more people to cycle out to the Peak District, improving health and wellbeing

- reduce risky driving (e.g. overtaking cyclists at speed)
