Yesterday the Shasta Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) and the Shasta County Board of Education (SCBE) voted to end efforts to build atop Magnolia Park and to seek a different location for the new Medical Therapy Unit (MTU)! Thanks to all of you who signed the petition - your voice was heard and made a difference! We also thank all those who otherwise worked toward finding a true win-win solution that keeps Magnolia Park intact while also providing excellent services to students who are served by an MTU. Additionally, we thank the City of Redding officials who have consistently spoken of the value of Magnolia Park and encouraged its preservation throughout this struggle. And, finally, a huge thank you to the SELPA Governing Board and SCBE for revisiting their earlier decisions to build atop Magnolia Park. We hope to see all of you out enjoying this beautiful and historical patch of public green space near downtown Redding.
