Petition updateEducation and Government Leaders: Seek public input before demolishing Magnolia ParkGreat news from the SELPA meeting!
Citizens for Magnolia Park
Mar 1, 2017
Jim Harrell from Gateway Unified School District announced that he will allow the Medical Therapy Unit leeway to remain on site while Shasta County Office of Education (SCOE) reviews the MTU build options.
Kim Pickering spoke on behalf of the Redding School District (RSD) Board, inviting the SELPA board to attend the next RSD Board meeting and begin collaborating on RSD site options for the MTU.
The Citizens for Magnolia Park presented compelling information in favor of preserving the historic park, as well as a number of alternative build plans that could put the MTU on the SCOE property while still preserving the park.
If the Shasta County Board of Education (SCBE) and the SELPA board can work together with the community we may be able to preserve the park without interrupting the important services to the Medical Therapy students.
Make your voice heard by contacting SCBE and SELPA board members and officials. Urge them to consider options that preserve the park. Phone numbers and email addresses as well as Citizens for Magnolia Park's presentation at the SELPA meeting are available at this website:
