Rotherham Truth Campaign

My formal paid teaching career started in September 1977 as a Mathematics teacher at Wales High School. I went on to be a secondary Deputy Headteacher for 4 years and then a Headteacher for almost 13 years. After retiring from being a Headteacher, I went back to my first love in teaching and, as a consultant, I helped two schools (with close to the worse Mathematics results in their local authorities) to improve their Mathematics results - Thrybergh in Rotherham and Westfields in Sheffield. Since just before my formal retirement in May 2012, I have helped produce 20 editions of PRE (Pastoral Renewal Exchange) – a 25 page publication about improving pastoral work, improving how we care for one another. I have also published a lot of additional material on the REAL website. From time to time I have found it useful to share PRE and REAL articles with officers in Rotherham. Today I shared two articles with a senior social worker from Rotherham about characteristics of social work. I have witnessed these characteristics in action over the past six weeks at Swinton Lock. I have yet to see then being used with victims and survivors of CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) and their family members in Rotherham – in fact quite the opposite since I met with Sharon Kemp, Chief Executive of RMBC on 26 July. What I shared today: Characteristic Steps in the Therapeutic Process - Carl Rogers The magnificent seven characteristics of social work For copies see: http://real2.org/characteristics-of-social-work-visibly-evident-at-swinton-lock-but-not-yet-in-rmbc/
