We hereby petition SFMTA Sustainable Streets: Parking to recommend to the SFMTA Board of Directors that all motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds be exempted from the SFMTA's Residential Parking Permit Program (RPP program). Currently, two-wheeled vehicles, which take up less space, which use parking unsuitable for cars, and which help reduce overall parking congestion citywide, are required to pay the same $110 per year as an automobile. In the interest of reducing the number of cars parking on city streets, we ask the SFMTA to exempt all motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds from the RPP program. This will encourage more SF residents to give up cars and to rely on more sustainable forms of transportation.
