SF citizens rally : Support San Francisco Opera Orchestra
The Issue
Our fight for the San Francisco Opera Orchestra continues.
We are now past Opening Night, and there is still no agreement. Saturday’s performance was canceled shortly before curtain, after patrons had already prepared for the evening, traveled to the Opera House, and in some cases arrived. Today, San Francisco Opera also used its official Instagram channels to publicly present management’s position in the ongoing dispute.
At this point, the ask is simple:
- Reach a fair agreement — now. This crisis should never have reached this point. Resolve the remaining differences at the negotiating table and do not allow this to drag on.
- Accountability afterward. Too much went wrong in the lead-up to this crisis and in how it has been handled publicly. Once the musicians are back at work, the public deserves transparency and accountability.
Keep supporting the Orchestra. Share this petition, contact San Francisco Opera and ask for a fair resolution, and follow sfoperaorchestra.org and @sfoperaorchestra on Instagram for negotiation updates. Keep following @savesfopera on Instagram for updates from this community movement.
Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, spoken up, and stood behind the musicians. Please keep going.
*Save SF Opera is an independent civic support movement and is not affiliated with San Francisco Opera, the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, or any union.
