The next Victorian Survivors and Supporters lunch will be at the Sandringham Hotel in July on a Wednesday, the date is currently being confirmed. The lunch is back at The Sandy to enable Melbourne and Beaumaris/Bayside survivors and supporters to join us, in addition to Ms Zoe Daniel MP, the federal member for Goldstein (Bayside Melbourne) to join us too. It was fantastic that people also travelled from Geelong, Ballarat and other parts of Victoria to join the last lunch at The Sandy.

This is an opportunity to talk with Ms Daniel about the outcomes our petition seeks, which does need the support of Federal government, and for Ms Daniel to hear about what else needs to happen, for survivors, their families and communities.

Ms Rachel Payne, Victorian MP for South-Eastern Metropolitan Melbourne (which also includes parts of Bayside Melbourne), is continuing to chase the Victorian government for a response to our petition. Unfortunately, Ms Payne is unable to join our lunch at The Sandy in July but is committed to attending a lunch at a future day, that we hold at The Sandy.

Given our petition is asking the Victorian and Federal government to pilot recommendation 9.1 of the Royal Commission into Institutional responses to Child Sexual Abuse, integrated services and supports in Bayside Melbourne and the Ballarat region, we have also been communicating with Ms Catherine King MP, federal member for Ballarat. We popped into her Ballarat office yesterday and spoke with her staff about seeking the opportunity for her to also join a Victorian Survivors and Supporters lunch in the future too.

Social movements and campaigns are key to creating the political will to make changes that benefit society.

Our governments have failed to act on recommendations that would improve the lives of survivors, their families and communities. Your support is helping us change that, thank you.
