SEPTA: Keep the Chestnut Hill West Line Running

The Issue

SEPTA’s Chestnut Hill West Line of the Regional Rail network is on the chopping block of being cut from the system. The line is one of two train lines that go to the Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy, and Germantown neighborhoods of Philadelphia. However, the Chestnut Hill East line which is not affected, is NOT wheelchair accessible North of Wayne Junction, the affected Chestnut Hill West line is wheelchair accessible. Even though ridership is lower on the CHW line, shutting it down would be a huge mistake, as it will make the CHE line and the route 23 bus which runs along Germantown Avenue in those neighborhoods more crowded than ever. It would also put a negative impact on the disabled community because it would make the 23 bus, which is already very crowded even more crowded, so crowded that they would not be able to take passengers in wheelchairs. This decision to shut down the Chestnut Hill West RR line is unacceptable, if you agree, don’t forget to sign!
