At the last meeting rather then addressing our request from our 4000 petition supporters the OC Parks director's staff floated the idea that the board should consider a pilot program to limit trail access to certain groups. They admitted they did not have information about the prior study done regarding trail conflicts and had not shared with the public or the board the letter from Fish and Wildlife stating how ebikes can be allowed OC Parks. They just buried those and went straight for limited access to the public.
If you make a public comment please urge the board not to start any pilot programs that would limit trail access to any user group. Currently most of the trails are multi purpose use trails that can be used by any user group any time during the day except for class one and two low power pedal assist ebikes. Also urge them to remove the restriction (ban) on e bikes and indicate why you are asking. How it personally affects you. They have criminalized your riding a bike in the park.

Did you know there is an exception to the ebike ban in OC Parks.

Please make a recurring donation and upon request we will send you a 2"x2" mobility disability sticker for your down tube. Mobility disabilities are not always visible such as can't walk long distances, anxiety, heart disease etc. No public employee is allowed to ask you about your disability or for further proof other then to state you have a mobility disability if you do have a medial condition that substantially limits your mobility. This allows you to ride your low power pedal assist ebike in OC Parks legally. This exception is under DOJ 2011 rule.
