Shortly after writing our county supervisor who voted for the ban we talked to our County Supervisor's Parks policy adviser. He was at the hospital with his father due to a heart issue. Guess what, his father has a low power assist e-bike. Hopefully his father will be ok so he can get back out there and ride to extend his life. He said he will research what I told him about AB1096 prior to my meeting with our supervisor. I will be following up with him as well. The supervisors apparently just adopted recommendations from the Director of OC Parks. Anyway we will fix this from the top down!

The picture is of the late afternoon view of Catalina Island from OC Parks bike trail above Laguna Beach California. Low power pedal assist bikes are currently prohibited here. Below that dip in the mountains on Catalina island is the City of Avalon. You can't always see the island from here but this was an exceptionally clear day. It is about 32 miles from this spot and that is the east end of the island we are looking at. On Catalina island they really don't allow cars except by permit for required services. So people walk or drive golf carts. And there is an electric bike rental and golf cart rental there for visitors. Just some interesting information. How nice it would be to live there and not have a car! My e-bike would be great as the streets in Avalon have steep hills.
