Over 5 months ago we started this petition with the goal of shutting down LAVOO CAFE in Oakland Gardens, Queens, and it appears we have been successful!

I just had a conversation with a business owner in the neighborhood who said LAVOO lost their liquor license and is now closed. After checking Lavoo's Instagram page there has not been a single update posted since the end of February. Yelp still lists LAVOO as "open" but they are not currently open, as they have been shut down like all nightclubs since the COVID crisis began.

I am 99% sure LAVOO is closed and not coming back, however I am not going to declare "success" and close this petition until I have 100% confirmation that this is in fact the case.

I want to thank everyone who signed and supported this petition. It received over 1520 signatures and played an important role in galvanizing the neighborhood to come together. Shortly after this petition was posted Senator John Liu and Assemblyman David Weprin held a press conference outside of LAVOO calling for it to be closed. I have met many people who have greatly appreciated this petition saying it helped them realize they were not alone. Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts!
