Sell the Team, Bob! Pittsburgh Deserves Better.

The Issue

Hi. I’m from Irwin, PA. I grew up watching Pirates games like it was a religion, even though the Pirates themselves have been in a decade-long spiritual crisis. I was recently home and attending a Buccos game at PNC Park against the White Sox — which, by the way, is still the most beautiful ballpark in America — and left feeling like I’d just paid $40 to cry in public again to see us lose against an even worse team.

We’ve had it. Bob Nutting has owned this team since 2007. In that time, we’ve had three winning seasons and zero meaningful postseasons — unless you count watching your favorite players traded away for parts as a form of emotional growth.

Let’s be real: the fans show up. The stadium is iconic. The team has raw talent. But ownership has become a punchline — and not even a funny one. The Pirates are being run like a clearance bin at a dollar store.

This isn’t about one bad year. This is about a culture of mediocrity and bottom-barrel payrolls that treat Pirates fans like we’re too loyal to care.

I flew out 2,200 miles away to tonight's game to say what we’re all thinking: Bob Nutting, please sell the team. Like now. We’ve seen what good ownership can do in places like Baltimore and Tampa. Why not us?

We deserve hope. We deserve investment. We deserve a front office that doesn’t treat contending like it’s a luxury cruise they can’t afford.

If you’re a fan, a Yinzer, or just tired of watching generational talent get traded away for a coupon book — sign this petition.
