Hello all, I attended the Parish Council meeting yesyerday to put forward our petition and request the Parish councils support in restoring Smithy Green Playground. Maria Bennett proposed that the parish provide half of the funding for the replacement of the park equipment as if this were to happen then Sefton council would match the funding allowing the playground to be re opened. This is a similar solution to what has been proposed to save Kew Wood Park in Sothport with the cabinet member with responsibility for parks stating they would match the funding. I am waiting on an update from Bob or Maria to see how well recieved the proposal was. I must say I was very surprised to discover that Formby Parish Council has £100,000 in reserves! Surely this cash could be better used in our community.
