The Ohio "Friendly Relations Among Nations" Education Bill is a caring strategic initiative.

It is a matter of setting many things in motion by setting one thing in motion. It is about reconfiguring the future by doing one thing in the present. America's cruel wing has been very good at strategic thinking. America's care wing has not.
By adding the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as historical documents worth studying, we equip students with a global perspective. Members from local US civic organizations like Rotary and Lions were recruited after World War II to help frame these documents. These documents, which our government supported in 1945 and 1948, respectively, emphasize fundamental freedoms and equality, essential principles for nurturing informed and conscientious citizens.
The evidence is clear.
Educators worldwide have long advocated for human rights education and understand its role in promoting peace and social justice. According to UNESCO, over 60% of educators believe that teaching human rights positively impacts social attitudes among youth. Ensuring Ohio adopts these standards will align our educational goals with global trends and create a more caring and equitable learning environment.
Action is needed promptly to align our educational system with these values and to better meet the needs of our communities, as highlighted in the survey conducted through Empathy Surplus.
