Love, an innocent canine resident, was subjected to unfathomable cruelty and endured a life filled with suffering and pain. From her time at San Antonio Animal Care Services in May 2023 to her heart-shattering end in a junk yard, she experienced the worst of humanity. Despite desperate efforts by rescuers, Love's life was extinguished, adding to the grim tally of animal abuse cases in San Antonio. Data from the Humane Society suggests thousands more animals face similar abuse nationwide. This horrific incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for stronger animal welfare laws. Additionally, we must better enforce the laws currently in place to hold these inhumane individuals accountable. We honor the memory of Love and countless others who have met such horrific ends. Therefore, we call upon local lawmakers to ensure justice for Love by sentencing her abusers to the maximum extent of the law and by enacting stricter animal welfare policies.
