At #JusticeforChevy, our mission is simple yet powerful. We kindly request your signature to help us initiate the animal reform movement our country has so badly needed. The animal rescue world is a loosely regulated space and humans and animals are suffering from the aftermath. Our primary focus is to shine a light on unethical rescues, like Lee Asher's "The Asher House" which profit off the backs of innocent animals and cause harm and abuse to the animals and employees under its care. To address this issue, we need to launch an inquiry into the mistreatment, neglect, and numerous breaches and threats against his employees, who are coerced into signing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to prevent them from speaking out against these terrible actions. Lee Asher gained fame and popularity practically overnight for saving hundreds and hundreds of rescue animals, becoming a beloved figure to many animal lovers worldwide. Yet, many go completely unaccounted for and are never seen again. The emergence of information surrounding Chevy, a young Dogo Argentino canine, and his "mysterious death" has left many of us horrified and we want to end this once and for all.

Chevy's Legacy began on June 14th, 2024 - when an announcement was made that he would be "safe" from the chopping block at Apple Valley Animal Shelter in Southern CA. Chevy was placed on a euthanasia list after a potential adopter "meet-and-greet" did not work out. He was well on his way to relocating to The Asher House sanctuary (just hours before his euthanasia) and everyone was excited for him! Many networkers and rescuers cheered, as this was only a dream come true for a breed like Chevy's. With many of us assuming he would receive the resources, love, patience, decompression, and training that he needed - what happy ending could be better than this? Well, Chevy never made it to the sanctuary, sadly. He was killed senselessly after less than 48 hours of being transported to a boarding facility and then transported again to an unqualified trainer at Valley Oak Dogs located in Santa Ynez, CA where he met his unjust fate.

In Chevy's last video seen, he is walked back to his outdoor kennel (by the transporter) where there was only a dirt floor. There was no bed and no water or food bowls. Countless goats and livestock can be heard in this chaotic and stressful environment and he was eventually placed in close proximity to a large guard breed that displayed extremely stressful and negative behavior (barking incessantly at Chevy) only a couple of feet away. This was not a proper facility to send a dog like Chevy to for training. Chevy was not given a proper setting to decompress, which is crucial to a Dogo Argentino's success. Anyone who knows this breed, rescues or owns this breed, or works with dogs like the Dogo Argentino, would have never authorized this type of facility and/or encouraged Chevy to be placed there for training or any other type of behavioral assessment.

Chevy arrived at the training facility at around 7:00pm on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. The trainer had been out to dinner and left the transporter waiting with Chevy for over an hour. The transporter got Chevy some chicken nuggets and hand-fed him in his final hours. Chevy displayed zero aggression. Chevy had no bite history. He was handled by multiple people and even transported by two individuals with no issue. So, why did he mysteriously disappear after less than 3 days? Why did Chevy never make it to The Asher House sanctuary? Is it possible that if this happened to Chevy, it could/has happened to others? We would never know and Lee Asher would never tell us anyway...

Chevy was euthanized after the trainer allegedly deemed him "aggressive" without providing any video evidence after less than 48 hours of being transported to their facility. A text message verifying this information was provided by the only rescue that was contacted "West Coast Cane Corso Rescue" in an attempt to "save" Chevy as a final option. Chevy was never given the 3-3-3 Guideline for Transitioning New Dogs. If Lee Asher is going to "rescue" and "save" animals, he needs to be accountable for providing the proper facilities, patience, time, and fair behavioral assessments before shooting from the hip and deeming any dog "hopeless". In fact, Lee Asher never met Chevy in person. Neither did anyone on his team. 

An intrigued animal lover, advocate, and Dogo owner discovered this information on Facebook. She was actually trying to help Chevy before The Asher House swooped in. She was absolutely thrilled that he was going to The Asher House sanctuary and was left dumbfounded after the senseless killing of Chevy was leaked. Things didn't add up, so she went on a quest to uncover the truth in her justice journey for Chevy, and discovered that many others (both animals and humans) have been harmed by Lee Asher and his organization for years. She built a strong community and quickly gained visibility through Tik Tok. This decision was made after Lee Asher and his followers reported her Instagram accounts and suspended and banned her voice from speaking, only to hide the skeletons in his closet. Hundreds of supporters joined her mission and they are no longer silent.

The Asher House is well-known for being a 501c3 rescue that pulls many euthanasia-listed animals and has built a loyal following of millions over the past few years. However, with the confirmation of the death of Chevy, new information has come to light on how this unethical, immoral "rescue" runs its day-to-day operations. In June 2024 (alone), Lee Asher stated his rescue pulled more than 150 dogs from the euthanasia list. In July, Lee Asher took in another 100 dogs from an Oklahoma hoarding case, followed by approximately 20+ more dogs. Only to be followed by a small handful of these dogs shown on camera once, and many have never been seen again or posted on their websites. Where are they? Are they being cared for? Or did they meet the same painful, unjust death as Chevy? In light of much damning evidence that dogs are being shot on property, not quarantined, not decompressed, kept in kennels 23 hours a day (or more), employees are being mauled and bit (without proper reporting to the county or insurance providers), DOJ's pending investigation into the rescue, lack of filed taxes since 2022 and so much more, WE WANT THE ASHER HOUSE'S 501C3 TO BE REVOKED as well as TRANSPARENCY and PROOF OF LIFE for all of the animals Lee Asher and The Asher House organization have been responsible for taking under their care. While many more injustices are happening daily, this is the start of ensuring no more animals can be abused, killed, and worse... at the hands of Lee Asher! Our goal is to CEASE & DESIST this organization and expose the truth about The Asher House. We MUST investigate and STOP this corruption in a world where animals should be safe from harm. Authorities have dismissed Asher's behavior and covered up his boo-boo's for far too long. They must be held accountable for allowing this organization to operate (knowing first-hand that harm has been done to employees and animals) with little to no recourse.

Why revoke The Asher House 501c3?

The IRS has set forth guidelines to qualify an organization as 501c3 and The Asher House is violating several:

1. "The exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3) are...preventing cruelty to children or animals". There is proof that Lee Asher has shot and killed many of his rescue animals on his property. His animals are in small kennels for the vast majority of the day, without proper exercise or contact. He has a policy stating his handlers must carry tasers in case of a fight. He does not have proper quarantine and proper drainage systems or procedures in place and many dogs are needlessly exposed to diseases. The "open environment" that Lee Asher utilizes for his awe-inspiring videos to gain millions of followers is dangerous and irresponsible. This reckless model has been the direct source of daily dog fights and even maulings and senseless deaths of dogs including River and Charles.
2. "The organization must not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, and no part of a section 501(c)(3) organization's net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual." It's hard to say the exact amount of donations that The Asher House brings in, mostly due to the lack of transparent reporting - but several sources state it is greater than $2 million in 2022 alone. It has only grown since then. Lee Asher has acquired over $11 million in properties in the past 2 years. Facilities created for the dogs have never been shown, only 2 mega-mansions that he resides in (which are quite excessive at 13000SF/240 acres & and 8000 SF), leaving bare bones conditions for the livestock and hundreds of canines under Lee Asher's "care". Lee Asher also has a FOR PROFIT company called Asher House Wellness that he promotes on his rescue social media along with many product deals. This company was developed in 2018 when it was acquired by Cannabis Strategic Ventures (now a mostly defunct group with disgruntled investors). Where does this money go? Is it legal for him and his board members to profit off the animals in such a manner? There is no grand kennel facility, we have only seen pictures of his garage with kennels stacked in rows and dogs on concrete floors. This is dog warehousing at its finest - and employees have confirmed that this is all for "show" and nothing but a dog hoarders' paradise.

• Gorgeous and Guilty: 2 Tibetan mastiffs, mauled an employee in early 2024, causing 66 stitches, emotional and physical trauma, extended leave from work, and major financial burden. • Charles: attacked and killed in Asher's pack
• Jax: shot and killed Jax after a dog fight and buried him in a shallow grave on his property near a running water source
• Mugsy: a parrot, Lee left him in his cage while the flooring in the house was redone and he was killed slowly by the noxious chemicals
• Tony: Lee shot him on the property right after making a "goodbye" video. Is it legal to shoot your dog in Oregon?
• River: medical dog that was attacked and killed in his pack
• Maeve: Frenchie, drowned after being trampled in his reservoir
• Wildlife: Lee Asher has baited deer with apples on his property and has shot them dead. What sanctuary do you know kills animals in this horrific manner? Is Lee Asher registered and licensed with the Fish and Wildlife Department? Was this on/off-season?
• So, so many more lives that have been unaccounted for

JFC is a grassroots movement founded on exposing the truth surrounding Chevy's death as well as educating the public regarding the need for transparency in rescues. JFC strives to build a community that voices the animal advocacy needs and reform in our country and will initiate and pursue legislation and change for the voiceless. In the quest to find the truth about Chevy's death, we have uncovered unimaginable horrors surrounding Lee Asher and The Asher House. All information shared is first-hand and corroborated with evidence.

It truly is amazing how much support and progress has been made - considering this movement started with a few outraged volunteers at the needless death of their beloved Dogo Argentino breed (only two months ago)! At its core, this movement is about animal advocacy, ensuring transparency within rescues, and exposing unethical individuals masked as rescue martyrs. Shelter volunteers, animal lovers, and ethical rescues work too hard to ensure helpless animals find homes while a sham like The Asher House swoops in to collect hundreds (essentially hoarding animals at a colossal scale), posting fake sob stories for donations (and even sympathy donations upon the death of an animal), and has even staged some of his rescue "stories" in the benefit of his personal pocketbook and real estate portfolio. 

Lee Asher rakes in millions while real rescues do the heavy lifting for him. Lee Asher does not know what it's like to be out on the rescue frontlines. He has never gone on a rescue mission to pull an animal off the street (not one that he planned in advance). He doesn't pick up waste, or participate in the daily care of his animals (his caretakers do, with great risk). He doesn't invest in training or encourage it. He supports dangerous working environments and fails to make improvements when hazardous conditions are reported. He is the direct source of the unnecessary injuries, death, and harm to many. He and his leadership must be held responsible for these illegal actions.

There have been countless bite incidents and injuries that go unreported to authorities. This is not a safe environment for animals or people. While The Asher House is our current focus, many other unethical rescues have shown their true colors in support of Lee and his sickening shirtless diatribes...and they will be exposed in time, too. JusticeforChevy supporters were attacked relentlessly by Be Like Josh and Yaqui Animal Rescue who bullied JusticeforChevy followers on Instagram for voicing their concerns and relentlessly continued the attack on them on their social media live video (now deleted). Hundreds of their followers unjustly reported and condemned innocent animal advocate voices which shut down the JusticeforChevy Instagram page. Supporters and sponsors of The Asher House and Lee Asher's fraudulent operations must be held accountable, too. This behavior is unacceptable in the animal rescue space. It is not a monopolized corporation - it is a place where generous human beings donate their time and efforts to make small waves that create change in our communities. It's an effort where many collaborate and contribute at any level and it should be made without judgment. It is not a space controlled by large public platforms that dictate who and who isn't significant, especially when they have very little experience themselves. No matter the contribution, everyone should be allowed to have a voice. JusticeforChevy will create that change and ensure that Chevy's Legacy lives on for decades to come. Animal reform starts NOW!
