Rosebud's Euthanasia Has Been Postponed!
Rosebud’s story has touched so many hearts, and today we are incredibly grateful to share an important update.
The decision has been made to postpone Rosebud’s euthanasia. This is a powerful step forward—and it would not have been possible without the overwhelming support, advocacy, and voices of every single one of you.
While this is a moment to celebrate, our work is not finished. We have formally submitted a list of demands to the board to ensure that Rosebud is given the fair and thorough opportunity she deserves. These include:
- That any future behavioral assessment takes place only after a structured behavioral rehabilitation plan has been fully created, implemented, and given adequate time to show progress.
- That any individuals involved in the previous assessment are not involved in future evaluations, to ensure complete impartiality and avoid potential bias.
Our management team has made decisions regarding the care of dogs that do not align with established and widely accepted rescue practices. These concerns include, but are not limited to, the potential overuse of medication, the isolation of dogs experiencing behavioral challenges, and insufficient training and support for new kennel staff.
Rosebud’s situation highlights how gaps in critical decision-making and a lack of timely, appropriate intervention within a rescue environment can contribute to outcomes that may be premature and carry serious consequences.
This is about more than just time—it’s about accountability, fairness, and upholding the highest standards of animal welfare.
