Security measures for high attendance events

Security measures for high attendance events
The Issue
In light of recent tragedies, such as the incident involving Charlie Kirk, it has become clear that we must take proactive measures to ensure the safety of our citizens without compromising our freedoms. Gun violence is a grave issue, but it does not necessitate the forfeiture of our right to bear arms. Instead, we must focus on implementing protective measures at large gatherings.
Large-scale events, those with over 1,000 attendees, pose significant safety challenges if security measures aren't thoroughly implemented. We propose requiring all such events to feature some form of metal detection at entrances. Moreover, for outdoor events, securing rooftops that offer a view to the venue with personnel or active surveillance systems can add an additional layer of security.
This initiative does not intend to infringe on personal rights but to prioritize the safety and well-being of every attendee. Events, where large groups convene, can be safe havens with proper preventative measures in place. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been over 350 mass shootings in 2023 alone, which exemplifies the urgent need for heightened security measures at all large public gatherings.
Implementing these security features could deter potential threats and ensure attendees can feel secure while participating in beloved public events. Such practices are not entirely new and have shown success in various instances where potential threats were mitigated through efficient security screening and surveillance.
Your support is vital to get the attention of event organizers and local governments. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a proactive approach to preserving both safety and freedom. It's time to take a stand and ensure our spaces are protected so that tragedies like the one involving Charlie Kirk can be prevented in the future. Please sign and support our call for mandatory metal detection and surveillance at large-scale events.
