Secure Urgent Housing Transfer for Survivor

Secure Urgent Housing Transfer for Survivor
The issue
Living in a constant state of fear is something no one should experience, yet, it has been a harsh reality for me. I am a survivor of long-term family violence, enduring torment that has left deep scars. Now, the threat looms again as my ex-partner, a dangerous and abusive man, is due for parole in the coming months. This brings an immediate risk to my safety and to the safety of my loved ones, including my 90-year-old grandmother and my young son.
Despite having been approved for a family violence housing transfer, the relocation process is delayed. This delay is not just an inconvenience—it is a crisis waiting to happen. I have done everything in my power to secure a safer living environment. Multiple letters from the police, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), child protection, and various services affirm the urgency of my relocation.
My life right now is an ongoing battle—trying to emerge from half of a living nightmare. Often, I am stuck in a 'fight or flight' mode, unable to feel genuinely safe or trust others. I am recovering, but the fear and threat to my life persist. Moving away from this danger zone is critical to not only my recovery but also to maintaining the safety of my family. I aspire to help others escape similar situations, to inspire with my story of survival, but first, I need to ensure our safety.
The waiting period for a housing transfer has been unbearably long, and as my ex-partner's release date approaches, the urgency for relocation becomes more pressing. This is not merely a matter of finding a new place to live; it is about securing peace of mind and a future free from threats and harm.
I am urging the relevant authorities and individuals with the power to expedite this process. Your support in signing this petition can make a monumental difference in ensuring my family and I are relocated before it's too late. Please stand with me to demand immediate action—help us escape the shadows of fear and step into a life of safety and hope.
