Jory Fenstermaker, a loving and law-abiding husband and father, is currently facing an unjust sentence in prison for acting in self-defense. This situation has not only impacted him but also our family and community who know him as a man of integrity.

My husband was forced into a corner by an assailant and had to defend himself. Despite the clear evidence that he acted out of fear for his life, he was sentenced to 15 years to life. This is not just about my husband's freedom; it's about justice and the right to self-defense. This is also a blatant violation of the Second Amendement that allows him to lawfully bear arms as he did the night he was given the options to kill or be killed. A position that could happen to any of us at anytime. 

According to the National Self Defense Law Center, individuals have the right to protect themselves when they are in immediate danger (NSDLC). However, this fundamental right seems to have been overlooked in my husband's case.

We believe that everyone deserves fair treatment under the law. We urge you to consider this plea not just as a personal appeal but also as a call for justice. Let us correct this miscarriage of justice and ensure that self-defense rights are upheld.
