Help give West London Racing Centre the security it needs to keep bringing people together through racing, learning and volunteering.

For more than 30 years, West London Racing Centre (WLRC) has been based at Pole Hill in Hillingdon. Built and sustained by volunteers, it is a place where people of different ages can enjoy radio-controlled car racing, share practical skills and be part of a community.

The track also hosts RC Vision’s activities for young people, including holiday sessions funded through Hillingdon’s Holiday Activities and Food programme. Preparing, driving and maintaining electric RC cars gives young people opportunities to practise problem-solving, work together and explore an interest in engineering.

But uncertainty over the site’s future is holding us back.

Lease discussions have been under way since 2023. WLRC has supplied detailed plans and worked through successive rounds of discussions, yet its long-term lease arrangements and permission for appropriate fencing remain unresolved.

That uncertainty makes it harder to secure funding, improve facilities and plan future activities. A community facility maintained through years of voluntary effort needs a clear way forward.

We are asking Hillingdon Council to take two practical steps:

1. Agree and implement a dated plan for appropriate fencing and site security. Set out the permissions needed, who will be responsible for each action and when the work will happen, with suitable access arrangements for the track and surrounding recreation ground.
2. Complete the work needed to agree a suitable long-term lease with WLRC. Publish a timetable covering the remaining consultation, approval and legal steps, identify a named lead officer and report progress against clear milestones. The arrangements should support club racing, volunteering and youth activities, and give the club the stability to seek investment.

We ask the Council to provide a written response addressing both requests, with clear dates for the next steps.

WLRC’s volunteers are ready to work constructively with the Council. With secure arrangements in place, we can put more of our energy into improving the facility and creating opportunities for the people who use it.
