This petition comes from a place of personal concern and desire to provide the best for our children. Our district is noticeably lagging behind. Many of our neighboring districts have already made the wise transition to full day kindergarten, reaping the myriad benefits that it brings. Why are we not giving our children, the future of our community, the best opportunity we can?

Research strongly supports the need for full day kindergarten, featuring studies that associate it with improved reading and mathematics skills, better attention spans, and an enhanced social-emotional growth (Education Week, 2018). Additionally, it has been proven to play a critical role in leveling the academic playing field, especially for those from low-income families (The Century Foundation, 2019).

It is about time our school board recognized the importance of moving with the times. It's high time that full day kindergarten is put on the ballot in March 2025, giving the voters a chance to shape the educational destiny of our district. It's an urgent matter that deserves undivided attention.
