My name is Peter Sanford, a disabled individual living with PTSD and ADHD, resulting from a violent childhood. I am also the father of an autistic child, Gabriel. Our family is currently living in conditions that lack basic facilities such as washing, showering or cooking. This situation has stripped us of our dignity and independence.

Local councils have continually denied us adequate housing or a suitable care plan. As a result, our friends are being forced into unpaid roles as carers and supporters - an unfair burden on them.

In the UK alone, there are over 1.8 million households waiting for social housing (source: Shelter England). Families like ours - vulnerable and with special needs - often find themselves at the bottom of this list due to systemic failures in prioritising those most in need.

We urge you to join us in calling upon local councils to provide adequate social housing for families like ours who are dealing with disabilities and other vulnerabilities. It's time we restore dignity and independence to these families by providing them with suitable living conditions.
