Theatre 102 — Redcliffe Musical Theatre's home for the past 10 years — has been listed for sale. Without urgent action from Moreton Bay Regional Council and the Queensland Government, one of South East Queensland's most beloved not-for-profit community theatre companies faces a very uncertain future. We are asking both levels of government to act — together — to secure a permanent, supported home for RMT.

As a parent in the Moreton Bay community, I've witnessed the remarkable impact that Redcliffe Musical Theatre has had on my children's lives. Through ROAR Academy — RMT's youth program — I've watched them grow in confidence, find their voice, and flourish, both publicly and within themselves. That has been one of the great joys of parenthood. They are happy and enthusiastic, finding a sense of community — a tribe they truly belong to — in the world of music and theatre. The friendships, the memories, the sense of self they've built here — these aren't small things. The thought of losing this space, this community, this family, is more painful than I can give words.

Redcliffe Musical Theatre has been part of this community since 2010. More than 80 productions. Hundreds of young people — many of them coming through ROAR Academy, drawn from across Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay, and as far as the Gold Coast — who walked in shy and left knowing exactly who they are. Many of them neurodivergent, finally finding a place where they belong. It is not a hobby group. It is not a private business. It is not a luxury. It is community infrastructure — as essential to our families' wellbeing as a library or a sports field. A safe, inclusive space for people of all ages to explore their creativity, support their mental health, and build genuine connections. A tribe.

Since 2021, RMT has spent over $500,000 at the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre, contributing directly to local jobs and cultural life across the Moreton Bay region. Other performing arts organisations in this region operate from council-supported venues — support that RMT has never had access to. This petition asks both levels of government to change that, and to finally give RMT the foundation it needs to keep serving this community.
